Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone (Book 1)
GREAT SERIES

What a delightful series. I inherited the books from my mother. I hadn't planned to read them, I was to save them for my children. The first book was fun and interesting, but I felt that the ending was a little of a last minute decision and the twist was edited back into the story. I don't think the 9-12 age group would feel this way, but as an adult reading it that's what it seemed like. I have read all 4 books over a 2 week period, so evidiently they kept my interest. What I have found wonderful is that the story is very well developed from book to book. It builds upon the previous books and the author's plot twists become better developed in each installment. I have read series novels before and was sadly disappointed when the plot left you hanging very awkwardly. J.K. Rowling tells a wonderful story within each book and when all is done you know an entire portion of Harry Potter's story. At the end of each book, my interest was peaked for the next installment. In other series novels, I felt as though the story was just cut off because the publisher/author hit the desired number of pages for a decent novel. I can't wait until my children are old enough to read these and I'll be happy to see installment number 5.

Darker, But Very Satisfying!

This is an excellent read! The longest of Rowling's books so far, it is also darker, but very satisfying. Plot elements that have been working for the last four books are brought together. Not all questions are answered, and there is more mystery generated that will need to be cleared up in the next two books, but Book Five is very satisfying to read. I highly recommend it! Enjoy reading!

Harry Potter- Magic for all ages!

Somewhere around the time I hit 6th grade, I started reading "grown-up" books. Mostly, for the challenge. My reading level was often far, far abocve those of my peers, (Thanks Mom!) and the books they read wern't enough for me. Unfortuantly, books more to my reading level often delt with "grown-up" themes that, while intresting enough, don't captivate you like childrens books often do. I was pawing around the house to find something to read when I discovered "Harry Potter and the Sorcers Stone". I can't remember ever falling in love with a book so instantly. I tore through that book in no time flat- laughing, gasping and yelping loudly all over the livingroom couch. I did something I hadn't done for years- I talked to the book and the characters, telling them what to do. They never listened to me, much to my delight, and led me on exciting adventures. Since I put it down I have done nothing but reccomend the book to everyone who will listen. All ages, it dosn't matter. If you can read, or be read too, don't hesitate! I am a freshman in highschool and would willingly tell the entire world, "I am in love with Harry Potter and no one is too old to love him either!"

Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire

This is the very best book in the series so far! I picked up the very first copy off the shelf last nite(actually this morning, it was 12:01), and as soon as i got in the car i started reading it...The book was so good i didnt stop reading till 9 o'clock this morning--when i finished it.. The book is full of mystery and intrigue. And as J.K. Rowling promised us, there is a lot of dark stuff happening, rise of great evil. But you cant have a completely scary book ... We also find out many secrets of different characters, secrets of people we hated, or people we felt sorry for. I wish i could say more, but even the smallest hint would ruin it. ... Rowling has put together one of the best books ever. Keeps you on the edge of your seat through it all. Anyways, i recommend this book for most anyone, a bit long and "dark" for a lot younger kids, but even they will love nearly all of it. Buy it, i can guarantee you will LOVE it.

Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire (Book 4)
Gobelt of Fire

Annotation: It's the pivotal fourth novel in the seven-part tale of Harry Potter's training as a wizard and his coming of age. Harry wants to get away from the pernicious Dursleys and go to the International Quidditch Cup with Hermione, Ron, and the Weasleys. He wants to dream about Cho Chang, his crush (and maybe do more than dream). He wants to find out about the mysterious event that's supposed to take place at Hogwarts this year, an event involving two other rival schools of magic, and a competition that hasn't happened for a hundred years. He wants to be a normal, fourteen-year-old wizard. Unfortunately for Harry Potter, he's not normal - even by wizarding standards. 114 words

Author Bio: Joanne Kathleen Rowling was born on July 31st, 1965 in Chipping Sodbury, Gloucestershire, England. J.K has been writing since she was 5 or 6 years old. Her first book was called Rabbit. It was filled with interesting characters such as a big bee by the name of Miss Bee. The Rowling's moved several times throughout her life. A childhood friend of J.K had the last name of Potter. Ms. Rowling describes herself as being shy, freckly, with no natural athletic ability but a great love of literature. After she graduated college she took the role of a sectary. It didn't take her long to realize that she was the worst sectary and very disorganized. At age 26 she moved to Portugal and became an English teacher often teaching in the afternoons and evenings so that she could be free to work on her writing during the mornings. J.K. met and married a journalist in Portugal, Having a daughter in 1993. Shortly after the birth of her daughter, the marriage ended in divorce and Ms. Rowling, along with her infant daughter, moved to Edinburgh, Scotland so that J K could be near her younger sister, Di. Harry Potter started in a restaurant while her babe was sleeping. She only wrote in restraints and dinners to keep warm. 216 words

Evaluation: It's the pivotal fourth novel in the seven-part tale of Harry Potter's training as a wizard and his coming of age. The second task he has to swim to the bottom of the lake and retrieve the people that are closest to him. He also retrieves the competitor's people and receives highest honors. The third and final task is a maze to the cup, which he and Cedric get to first. The cup was really a potalkey taking who ever touched it to a grave yard awaiting a painful death. Wormtail kills Cedric instantly, Harry fights Voldemort's and wins. Grabbing Cedric's limp dead body and return in g to Hogwarts. Finds out that Moody was the one that helped Harry get to Voldemort's. Or was it? It was Mr. Crouch's Son Barty a death eater that would do anything to help Voldemort's get to Harry. Everything settles down, the term is over. Harry returns to the Dursly's hosue for the summer.
I loved the book. I couldn't put it down. I loved the way that J.K. showed so many different emotions like love, hate, fear, angry, strength. You get so into the book that you really believe that your there in reality watching what is going on. It also shows you that differences are differences but what you should really look at is the heart and how people live out there life day by day. 356 words

Fun for all ages

I originally bought this book for my nine-year old daughter after reading the rave reviews but couldn't quite believe how it could be *that* great. It was! I read aloud to her, but found I had to finish it when she had gone to bed. I don't know how Rowling made a story so fantastic so believable, but she did. Maybe it isn't fantasy????? Loved the British boarding school references. Very funny, and am glad it has been popular in the United States too.

Harry Potter

I first read Harry Potter and the chamber of secrets. I was so intrigued with the story that I went to amazon.com to see what other stories that J.K. Rowling had written and it was there that I learned about the first Harry Potter book and the soon to be released third book. I immediately ordered the first book and was on pins a needles while waiting for it in the mail. It only took three days but that was a long three days. Now I am reading Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban, I find it hard to put down. The things that Harry and his friends Ron and Hermoine get into takes me back to when I was a kid and makes me wish that I was a wizard growing up going to Hogwarts school. I have just recently under gone surgery and I am pretty much confined to the bed right now so I have a lot of time to read. I read until my eyes are too tired and then I still have trouble closing this book. Can't wait until the next one comes out. I definately will buy the next four. Thank you J.K. Rowling for such wonderful stories. You are a wonderful writter and I look forward to reading many more of your books.

Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone (Book 1)
This is the best book you could read in your life.

Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone transcends all age groups. I read it and then my Mom read it. She really loved it too. Even if there are not many illustrations, JK Rowling makes you see the characters in your mind. It was so exciting that we couldn't put it down. I learned all about Quidditch and the golden snitch. And my Mom now knows that the wizard doesn't choose his wand, but the wand chooses the wizard. And now, I'm reading the next Harry Potter book! And my Mom can't wait to borrow it. Thank you JK Rowling for writing this incredible book. Please write many, many more. We can't wait to find out what happens to Harry next. This book will become a classic.
