Ultimate Unofficial Guide to the Mysteries of Harry Potter
Ultimate Unofficial Guide is the ULTIMATE BEST!!!

I got this book in a unique way. The author asked for some people to help review a project. What I got was this book. I must say of the books I have read this has all the details that the others have and more. If you have read the books its good at showing you details you might have missed. It translates allot of the names to bring out some unique results. If you just started the books its great to be able to read a chapter then read the review of the chapter you can see what you missed it. Her ideas in the last sections where she has suggestions on future books is a real eye opener even if I think differently.

Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince (Book 6)
Does this series really need to be 7 books long?

Did anyone notice the inference that the number 7 was a magical number of great significance? I think that was a bit forced and self-servicing.

Frankly, with the amount of filler and fluff in these books, I think this series could have been wrapped up a book or 2 ago - how about 5 as a magic number? Or better yet, the TRILOGY.

I was really let down by this book, even more than the Goblet of Fire. I kept slogging through the first 3/4 of the book, waiting for something to happen - you know, a plot with action/reaction.

The ending happened so suddenly, fast, and furious - it was like being slapped in the face with a cold fish. And my emotions about what happened felt the same - cold and indifferent. Yes, a tragedy for sure, but I didn't feel it as much as I should have.

When I started reading these books oh-so-many years ago, it was a nice, weekend getaway escaping from the hard, harsh every-day life of work and responsibilities. Now, it's depressing, sad, and just no longer FUN.

I fear what's coming in book 7. Not of what's going to happen to any of the characters, but to my morale. Frankly, I don't see how Rowling can make a 180 from the path she's taking us without making it feel artificially contrived. And I just don't know how she's going to wrap it up in a single book, especially considering the plodding rate of progress that events are taking place.

Finally, I just don't see how this book of any of them can be made into a movie - there's just not enough substance to keep our attention for more than 30 minutes. That's about all the plot and action to have this book.

Oh well.

Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone (Book 1)
A strange Wizard

After seeing the movie I could not wait to read the book. I've always found that books are by far more detailed and wonderful then the movies. In the case of The Sorcerer's Stone I'm not so sure that this was the case. Maybe because they did such an excellent job in relaying the story and keeping it real in the movie.I enjoyed the book a great deal, however, Rowling seemed to move through details awefully quickly. A few examples are the chess game and the Troll getting into Hogwarts. The movie helped to create suspense and I just did not get that from her book. The sorcerer's stone is a quick read and while it is meant for children, adults will enjoy it as well. It's Alice in Wonderland meets Annie meets...well I don't know what else to compare it to. Rowling has an excellent imagination and it's no wonder that her books have reached historical sales!

Gee, who hasn't given this five stars?

Let's just see. Like many Potter fans all over the world, I am in love with fantasy. My interests are fantasy books, anime and manga. I, of course, LOVE Harry Potter in a fanatical way. So that this doesn't turn into a profile of me -_- I'll start the review. Book IV didn't disappoint me! It was riveting and I spent the whole day reading it. This is Harry Potter's biggest adventure so far! Read it, and I highly recommend Sabriel and Lirael by Garth Nix and the His Dark Materials trilogy by Philip Pullman. Gbye! ~Usagi-Bunny

An appetizer benefitting a worthy cause

I won't lie to you, I found these books rather arcane and dull. That probably has more to do with being and adult than the actual quality of the books, because my 9-year old son, who has practically memorized the Harry Potter books, thought they were fascinating.

The Best Yet

I ran into this book while shopping with my mom in a nearby store. I had no idea that J.K. Rowling had published another book and since I have read the first four I decided to take on this one too. So I purchased the book and decided to take a look at it. During the first part of the book it went really slow and almost made me think I should quit reading it. But some pages later the book started to pick up its tempo and I was immediately entranced by the book. J.K. Rowling goes into much detail with the book and answers a lot of question I had on Harry Potter that I wasn't able to pick up in the first few books. Also it seems like she also put a lot more dialogue in this book than she did with the others. Though one could say that this was a bad thing it was actually quite interesting and helpful. I was able to learn more about other characters too while I was reading, what was humorous to them, how they react to danger, what they do when they want to act mischievous. A lot of the characters that were not really mentioned in the other books actually appear more in this book. Overall this book was really exciting and worth a 5 out of 5. I would highly recommend this book to anyone who likes a good adventure.

Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix (Book 5)
Just keeps getting better!

I was worried that this book wouldn't live up to the quality of storytelling in the first four books. What if J.K. Rowling was getting tired of the characters? What if success went to her head and the quality suffered?I shouldn't have worried. The first couple of pages were slow but once the action got started I was breathless. I would go to bed at night swearing to read just one chapter, but at the end of the chapter I would be anxious to know what was going to happen next! The story is so much more involved now! Having just finished the 5th book, I'm already wishing for the 6th one.My one caveat is this: I had not read the 4th book since 2000. If it's been awhile since you've read The Goblet of Fire, read it again. While The Order of the Phoenix stands alone as an excellent read, the 4th book is a good reminder of why things are the way they are in the 5th book.

Possibly the Best Harry Potter Be

Every time a Harry Potter book comes out, it just gets better and better. She out does herself each time. All you have to know is that I will be buying the sixth book for sure. Her writing in this book is excuisite. I have to say that this may hold the place of her best book.
